Track a new ad campaign from click to sale

4 min readUpdated Markdown

To know which ad brings paying fans, give every ad set its own tracking link before the campaign starts. This guide sets up a new campaign in Tracking links, tests it, and shows where to read clicks, conversations, buyers and revenue per ad.

Before you start #

  • The creator has at least one Connected Telegram account with a username. See Connect Telegram accounts.
  • You know the ad sets of the campaign and the name your ads team gives it.
  • Optional: your own link domain is Verified in the Domains tab. Without one, the LanaChat domain works.

One link for the whole campaign gives you one number for the whole budget. One link per ad set tells you which one to cut. Name the links so anyone can read them, for example *Emma FR Meta story test 1*: creator, market, network, placement, number.

  1. Open Tracking links under Tools, in the Chatting group of the sidebar, and pick the creator in the filter at the top.
  2. In the Links tab, press New link.
  3. Fill in Link details:
    • Link name: the name you planned.
    • Public link: the domain, then the slug. The slug is generated from the name; keep it short.
    • Traffic source: the ad network, for example Meta or TikTok.
    • Campaign: the campaign name your ads team uses.
    • Telegram destination: the creator's Telegram pool if the campaign may bring many fans at once, or one precise account.
    • UTM parameters: filled in from the source and campaign. Change them only if your ads team uses its own naming.
  4. Pixels: switch on your ad network's pixel to report the first message and confirmed purchases back to the ads, or press Create without pixels. A pixel is connected once for the workspace, in the Pixels & events tab.

While something is missing, the create button stays grey; hover it to see what.

Repeat for every ad set. To go faster, keep the same campaign and source, and change only the name and the slug.

3. Check the pool before spending #

If the links point at a pool, open Telegram Accounts, tab Pool load. Each account shows its messages this hour against the ceiling of 2,000: amber from 80 % (slowed), red from 95 % (paused until the next hour). A campaign that will send many fans at once needs enough accounts in the pool.

Use the full tracking link as the destination of each ad, never the bare t.me address of the account, or the click is not counted. The full link is shown under the Public link field of each link.

From a Telegram account that is not a fan, open the link, start the conversation and write a message. The link's row then counts the click and the conversation. If a pixel is on, its status in Pixels & events should read Connected.

6. Read the results #

  • Links tab: the tiles add up Clicks, Conversations, Buyers and Revenue for the filter, and the table gives the same numbers per link.
  • Analytics tab: pick 7 days, 30 days or 90 days for the daily trend, the funnel (Clicks, Started conversation, First message, Buyer) and the revenue by source.
  • Export CSV downloads the day-by-day numbers of every link, for your ads report.

Note A fan belongs to the first link he clicked, and revenue counts verified Telegram Stars purchases. Totals will not match Ads Manager exactly, because each ad network has its own attribution windows: compare trends.

7. Close the campaign #

When an ad set stops, press the pencil on its link and Archive it. Archiving stops new clicks; the attribution and revenue already recorded stay in your reports. For the next campaign, create new links rather than reusing old ones.
