How to send a mass DM on Telegram without spamming fans

The Message+ audience and schedule panel in the LanaChat console

To send a mass DM on Telegram without spamming, write to fans who talked to the creator recently, keep the audience to a list that fits the message, make every text slightly different, and stop the sequence the moment a fan replies. Telegram limits what a bot can send and punishes accounts that users report as spam, so a mass DM has to look and feel like a personal message. Done this way, it is one of the best tools an agency has to wake up a creator's fans.

This guide explains the rules Telegram sets, how to choose the audience, and how to write a sequence fans answer instead of reporting.

What counts as spam on Telegram?

Telegram's spam FAQ is short and clear: when users press Report spam, moderators review the messages, and if they agree the account becomes limited for a while. A limited account can still reply to anyone who writes first, but it can no longer start chats freely. For an agency, that means a creator account that cannot reach out to her own fans.

So the real question is not "how many messages can I send" but "will this fan be glad to get it". A fan who wrote to the creator yesterday and gets a warm message tonight does not report it. A fan who never talked to her and gets a sales pitch might.

What is the 24-hour window?

When an account answers fans through a bot linked with Telegram Business, the bot can only send messages in private chats that had an incoming message in the last 24 hours. Telegram spells this out in the Bot API reference, in the description of a business connection.

In practice:

  • a fan who wrote to the creator within the last 24 hours can receive your mass DM
  • a fan whose last message is older than that is skipped until he writes again
  • the window is counted per fan, from his own last message
The 24-hour reply window: a fan's message opens it, the bot can write until it closes, then waits for his next message
Each fan's last message opens a 24-hour window. After it closes, the bot waits for him to write again.

This rule is a gift in disguise. It means your mass DM only reaches fans who are already in a conversation, which is exactly the audience least likely to see it as spam.

How do you choose the audience?

"All fans" is rarely the right answer. A message that works for a big spender can annoy a fan who never bought, and the other way around. Build lists and send to the list that fits the message.

  • VIPs: fans whose total spend is above an amount you choose. Send them early access and premium media.
  • Recent buyers: fans who bought in the last days. Send them the next rung of your price ladder.
  • Night owls: fans who mostly write late. Schedule their messages for their evening, not yours.
  • Cold leads: fans who chat but never bought. Send them something free first.

In LanaChat, a list can fill itself with rules, for example total spent above an amount, and you pick it as the audience of a send. Before you press send, the count shows how many fans can be messaged now, how many are outside the 24-hour window and how many are excluded. The fans guide shows how to build the lists.

How do you write a mass DM fans answer?

The best mass DMs do not look like mass DMs. Four habits make the difference.

  1. Use variables. Insert the fan's first name, and use a variation such as {Hi|Hey|Hello} so every fan gets a slightly different text. Twenty fans comparing notes should not find the same line.
  2. Ask something. A question invites a reply, and a reply reopens the conversation, which is worth more than any single message.
  3. Keep it short. Two or three short messages with a pause between them read like a real chat. A wall of text reads like an advert.
  4. Lead with value. A free photo or a voice note before any paid media. If you include a paid media, the caption says exactly what the fan unlocks.

Why stop when the fan replies?

Because the goal of a mass DM is a conversation. If a fan answers the first message and then receives the second and third messages of your sequence anyway, the creator looks like a robot at the very moment he became interested.

A good tool stops the rest of the sequence for every fan who replies, and lets the normal conversation take over: the AI or a chatter answers him like any other fan. In LanaChat, Stop when the fan replies is on by default.

When should you send it?

Timing matters as much as the text.

  • Send in the fan's evening. Most fans write after work. A message that lands at 4 AM in his time zone is ignored, or worse.
  • Space your sends. One good message a few times a week beats a daily blast. Watch the replies and the reports, not just the sales.
  • Schedule repeats. A weekly message for VIPs on the same evening becomes something they expect.

How Message+ handles it

In LanaChat, mass DMs live in Message+. You write a sequence of up to 16 messages, each with a wait of up to an hour after the one before, with media from the Vault sent free or paid in Stars, from 1 to 25,000. You pick all fans of a creator or one of your lists, up to 800 fans per send, then send now, once at a set time, every day, or weekly on the days you choose. Sends run on our servers and keep going when the console is closed, and each one shows how many messages were sent, pending, paused after a reply or failed.

Fans outside the 24-hour window are skipped, and the sequence stops for every fan who replies. Nudge, a message sent the moment a quiet fan comes back online, is coming next. For fans who went silent, our follow-up scripts that reopen silent fans are often a better first move than a mass DM.

FAQ

Can a Telegram bot message every fan of an account at once?

Only the fans who wrote in the last 24 hours. Telegram lets a business bot send messages only in private chats with an incoming message in that window.

How many fans can one mass DM reach in LanaChat?

Up to 800 fans per send. For a larger audience, pick a fan list to narrow it down.

What happens if a fan replies in the middle of a sequence?

With Stop when the fan replies on, he receives nothing more from that sequence, and the conversation continues normally.

Can I include paid media in a mass DM?

Yes. Media can be sent free or paid in Telegram Stars, from 1 to 25,000. Say in the caption what the fan unlocks.

How do I avoid my account being limited for spam?

Write only to fans who talked to the creator recently, send to a list that fits the message, vary the text, and stop as soon as a fan answers.
