OnlyFans chatter salary: how agencies pay chatters

The Statistics overview of the LanaChat console

An OnlyFans chatter salary is usually built from one of three pieces: an hourly rate, a commission on the sales the chatter closes, or a base plus a commission. There is no single market rate, because it depends on the language, the hours, the experience and how much the agency sells. The useful question for an agency is not "what is the going rate" but "what does each dollar of net sales cost me in chatting".

This post walks through the pay structures agencies use, what each one rewards, and a simple way to compare them, including an AI paid on commission.

Four pay structures for chatting compared: hourly, commission, base plus commission, AI on commission
Each structure rewards a different behaviour. Pick the one that matches what you want more of.

What does an OnlyFans chatter do?

A chatter writes to fans on behalf of a creator. The job is part conversation, part sales: keep the fan talking, learn what he likes, send the right media at the right moment, and close the sale at the price the agency set. On Telegram, the same job happens in the private chats of the creator's accounts, with locked media paid in Telegram Stars.

The work runs around the clock. Fans write late at night in their own time zone, on weekends and on holidays. That is why chatter pay is never only a question of a rate: it is a question of coverage, quality and who closes the sale.

How are OnlyFans chatters paid?

Agencies mostly pick one of the structures below, or mix them across teams.

Hourly pay

The chatter is paid for the hours on shift. It is easy to plan and it rewards presence: someone is always there when a fan writes. The weak side is that the cost stays the same on a slow night as on a busy one, and nothing in the pay pushes a chatter to sell more.

Commission on sales

The chatter earns a share of the sales he or she closes. It rewards selling, and it scales down on its own when sales drop. The weak side shows up in the conversations: some chatters push too hard, fans feel it, and two chatters may argue over who closed a sale that started on one shift and ended on the next. A commission only works if every sale is attributed to a person without doubt.

Base plus commission

A smaller fixed part for the hours, plus a share of the sales. This is the most common middle ground because it pays for coverage and rewards results at the same time. It also means two numbers to follow per chatter: hours worked and net sales closed.

An AI on commission

The newest option is to let an AI answer every fan and pay for it the way you would pay a chatter on commission. The AI covers every hour at the same quality, and your human chatters focus on the conversations that matter most: big spenders, custom requests, delicate fans. We compare both sides in AI chatter vs human chatters.

How do you compare the real cost of chatting?

Rates are hard to compare across structures. One number makes them comparable: the chatting cost per dollar of net sales.

  1. Add up everything you pay for chatting in a month: hourly pay, commissions, bonuses, the time managers spend checking conversations, the tools.
  2. Take the net sales of the same month: what is left after the platform's share and refunds.
  3. Divide the first by the second. The result is how many cents of chatting each dollar of net sales costs you.

Run it per team, per creator and per shift. A night shift with a low hourly cost can still be the most expensive one if it sells little. A commission chatter with a high share can be the cheapest if he sells a lot. Without the division you are comparing rates, not results.

Two other numbers belong next to it:

  • First reply time. A fan who waits loses interest. If the cost per dollar looks good but new fans wait long for a first answer, you are paying for it in sales you never see.
  • Sales per conversation. It tells you whether a chatter sells, or just keeps fans busy.

What does an AI on commission cost?

To make the comparison concrete, here is LanaChat's public pricing. Each connected Telegram account costs $19 per month, with packs of 10, 25 and 50 accounts for less. On top, a commission on net sales: 12% of AI sales up to $30,000 of monthly net sales in the workspace, 10% up to $100,000, and 8% above. Sales your team sends by hand are billed at 4%, 3% and 2% on the same tiers. There is no fee per seat, so adding a chatter to the console costs nothing. The details are in our pricing page, and the reasoning behind it in the pricing we wished we had.

Put that into the same division as your chatters: the commission plus the account fees, divided by the net sales the AI made. You now have one cost per dollar for the AI and one for each human team, on the same scale.

Should chatters be contractors or employees?

Many agencies work with chatters as independent contractors, often in other countries. Whether someone is a contractor or an employee is not a choice of words in a contract: it depends on how the work is actually controlled and paid, and the rules differ by country. In the United States, the IRS explains the factors it looks at in its page on independent contractor or employee. Take advice from a local professional before you settle on a structure; this post is not legal or tax advice.

How do you keep pay fair between chatters?

Fair pay starts with clean data. Three habits help:

  • One login per person. Every message and every sale is tied to the person who sent it. Give each chatter a role that shows only the creators they work on; our team and roles feature does this per agency.
  • Attribute each sale once. Decide the rule (the person who sent the paid media, for example) and stick to it.
  • Separate AI sales from human sales. When an AI covers part of the conversations, you need to know which sales came from your team. In LanaChat, sales sent by hand from Live Convs are counted and billed apart from AI sales.

FAQ

Is there a standard OnlyFans chatter salary?

No. Pay depends on the structure, the language, the hours and how much the agency sells. Compare structures by the chatting cost per dollar of net sales, not by the rate alone.

Is commission better than hourly pay?

It depends on what you want more of. Hourly pay rewards coverage, commission rewards selling, and base plus commission rewards both with more to track.

Can an AI replace all my chatters?

In our experience, the setup that works keeps people for big spenders, custom requests and delicate conversations, and lets the AI answer every other fan at any hour.

How is a sale sent by a chatter billed in LanaChat?

A sale sent by hand from Live Convs is billed at the manual rate: 4%, 3% or 2% of net sales depending on the monthly tier.

Do I pay per chatter seat in LanaChat?

No. You pay per connected Telegram account and a commission on net sales. Adding teammates costs nothing.
