# When Lana should NOT answer

Lana replies to every fan unless something tells her not to: a choice you made (a script mode, a pause, a takeover) or a safety stop. This guide lists each case, what it stops, and how to give the conversation back to her.

## One conversation: you take over

In **Live Convs**, open the conversation and press **Take over manually**. Lana pauses for this fan only, and the strip above the box says **AI paused, you're replying**. Typing in the box is a takeover too.

1. Write your replies yourself. They go out from the creator's real Telegram account.
2. When you are done, press **Hand back to AI**, or switch **AI replies** back on.

A script you run by hand from **Scripts** above the box also replaces Lana while it runs. Stopping it gives the conversation back to her. See [Live Convs](https://lanachat.ai/guides/live-convs/).

## Pause everything for a creator, an account or a brain

- **A creator**: in **Telegram Accounts**, turn off the **AI** switch on each of her accounts. Nothing is sent from them until you turn it back on.
- **One Telegram account**: turn off its **AI** switch only, or use **Pause AI replies** in the row's **Actions** menu. Her other accounts keep working.
- **An AI Brain**: click **Active** next to the brain picker to switch it to **Paused**. A paused brain doesn't reply to fans.

## Safety stops: the AI stopped on its own

Some fans must not get an AI reply, and Lana stops by herself. In **Fans List** the status tag says why:

- **OFF** (Underage, Crisis / distress, Coercion, Illegal request, Asked to stop): the AI stopped for good reason.
- **Review** (Age unclear, Needs clarification): someone should read the conversation.

In Live Convs the same fan shows a strip: **Minor: never sell or send explicit content to this fan**, a fan in distress with **Alert a manager**, an opt-out, or **AI has stopped** with its reason and a **Resume AI** button.

> Warning: Never press Resume AI on a fan marked minor, in distress or who asked to stop. Hand a fan in distress to a manager with Alert a manager.

## Stops you didn't choose

Lana also stays silent when she cannot send:

- **Balance at $0**: she pauses on every account of the workspace until you top up. See [Low or empty balance](https://lanachat.ai/guides/low-or-empty-balance/).
- **Expired licence** on an account (red **Expired** badge in Billing, Licences): she stops on that account until a licence is assigned to it.
- **Reply window closed**: Telegram only allows replies within 24 hours of the fan's latest message. Wait for him to write again.
- **He blocked the bot**: messages cannot reach him.
- **No AI Brain** linked to the creator: in **Creators**, the line under her name says **No AI Brain yet**.

## Who can do it

Team members need **Reply manually** to take over and **Pause the AI on a conversation** to hand back or resume. A greyed button says which permission is missing. See [Team and roles](https://lanachat.ai/guides/team-and-roles/).
